Meet Our Veterainarians

 Dr. Karen J. Colson

Dr. Colson grew up the daughter of Air Force parents in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is a 1983 graduate of Auburn University where she completed both her undergraduate work and Veterinary School. Upon graduation, she participated in an internship with small animals in Birmingham, Alabama before starting to care for animals on the professional level. She has worked steadily in the field since that time and became owner of Medlock Bridge Animal Hospital in 2004. Dr. Colson is an expert in the field of small animals, and will occasionally see exotics for minor issues. Dr. Colson lives in Duluth, Georgia with her husband Seamus and their many animals. She enjoys showing her dogs at regional dog shows as well as training animals in the disciplines of obedience and agility.

 Dr. Tina M. Ballon

Dr. Ballon was born and raised in Louisiana and was blessed to be surrounded by many different animals.  She completed her undergraduate degree in New Orleans at Tulane University and is a graduate from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.  She completed a rigorous one year internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists and developed her medical skills in: internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, neurology, oncology and emergency medicine.

"I love helping animals feel better and stay healthy and look forward to the future of veterinary medicine and the advancements of Medlock Bridge Animal Hospital.  I thank God for allowing me to serve clients by answering questions and guiding them to the truth about what is going on with the furry members of their families."

Dr. Ballon is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Georgia V.M.A. and serves as the Secretary of Cobb County V.M.A.  She lives in John's Creek with her husband John, two cats Benjamin Franklin & Lizzie Boo Boo Bear, and one dog Cocoa Bean.
